The Beruang Association occurs in the Sapagaya valley to the west of Lahad Datu.
It occurs on basic igneous rocks on hills with moderate to steep slopes. This association is inadequately documented and the only soil which has been described is a Ferric Acrisol of the Beruang Family. The association however, is closely related to the Mentapok Association.
