The Malubok Association occurs on the mountains which form part of the watershed of the Segama and the Kinabatangan, and it also occurs on the flanks of Gunong Tambuyukon.
The parent materials are complex but basic and intermediate igneous rocks are probably dominant Chert is locally dominant and there are less common occurrences of ultrabasic igneous rocks and sandstone.
